Optimization Configuration of Terminals in Distribution Networks with Distributed Generation Integration

The integrations of distributed generations (DGs) into the distribution networks (DNs) have posed challenges for the optimal configuration of distribution network terminals. This study investigates the optimal placement of distribution terminals (DTs) from the perspectives of state estimation and observability. The objective is to minimize the number of DTs, with relevant constraints defined under the assumption of network observability. A research model is constructed and solved using a genetic algorithm in MATLAB. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed configuration scheme are verified on the modified IEEE 33 -node test system. The results demonstrate that the optimized configuration ensures full observability of the system and reduces power outage losses.
