Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties of High-Strength Wire Mesh–Reinforced Polyurethane Cement

To study the tensioning and bending properties of high-strength wire mesh–reinforced polyurethane cement (HSWM-PUC), uniaxial tensile tests and four-point bending tests were conducted. A total of 15 groups of HSWM-PUC dumbbell shaped specimens and 12 groups of HSWM-PUC thin plate-shaped specimens were designed. Four influencing factors were considered in the tests: specimen width, specimen thickness, curing time, and mass ratio. The tensile test results indicated that the ultimate tensile stress of HSWM-PUC increased with the increase of mass ratio. When the mass ratio of polyurethane cement (PUC) was 0.75, the ultimate tensile stress of HSWM-PUC was 59.3 MPa. The tensile strength of HSWM-PUC increased with the increase of specimen reinforcement ratio. Among all the specimens, the ultimate tensile stress of the HSWM-PUC with a reinforcement ratio of 0.37% was 58.1 MPa. The specimens with a curing time of 1 day had an ultimate tensile stress that reached 91% of the ultimate tensile stress of the specimens with a 28 day curing time. The bending test results indicated that the bending bearing capacity of HSWM-PUC increased with the increase of specimen width. The specimens with a width of 130 mm had a maximum bearing capacity of 13.24 kN; compared with specimens with widths of 110, 90, and 70 mm, their bearing capacity increased by 7%, 31%, and 115% respectively. Increasing the mass ratio could improve the maximum load, but its impact on deflection was not significant. The maximum load of HSWM-PUC with a mass ratio of 1.33 was 13.24 kN, which was 47% higher than that of HSWM-PUC with a mass ratio of 0.75 under the same condition.
