Correlation of 1D trapping cavity design: power terahertz photoconductive antennas performances
Terahertz (THz) emission properties based on photoconductive antennas (PCAs) are crucial for advancing semiconductor carrier phenomena. We decisively investigate several THz emitters, including PCAs, through vertical time-domain spectroscopy while thoroughly addressing the optical transport of THz power bandwidth. The findings demonstrate that the active area’s angle (θ) and dimensions significantly shape the photocurrent waveform and performance of THz frequencies. THz radiated–photocurrent waveform analysis reveals a critical impact of varying photoconductive angles, ranging from 0 to 52.01 deg with a 5 μm gap. Using an fs-laser for illumination and applying a direct current (DC) excitation of 25 V to the THz antennas establishes a strong relation between THz frequency and angle-gap design. Notably, an angle of 52.01 deg achieves an impressive bandwidth (Δλ) of 3.2 THz and a high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of 59 dB. Optimizing these parameters is essential for significantly enhancing THz emission.
