EFFECTIVENESS OF USING SELF-LEARNING MATERIALS AS A TOOL FOR LEARNING

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of self-learning materials (SLMs) as a learning tool among Kindergarten pupils in identified public elementary schools in Lapu-Lapu City Division. The parent respondents were profiled according to age, gender, highest educational attainment, number of children, combined family income, and type of parents, which were the variables of the study. A quantitative method approach was used, utilizing survey questionnaires to determine the level of SLM’s effectiveness in terms of content delivery, instructional design, assessment reliability, and strategies employed by parents to accomplish day-to-day activities. The gathered data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and chi-square. The findings showed that the profile of the respondents has a significant relationship with the perceived level of effectiveness in using selflearning materials as a tool for learning in kindergarten learners. Moreover, the study revealed no significant relationship between the profile of the parent respondents and the strategies used to accomplish the activities for the kindergarten learners. Thus, an action plan is proposed to sustain the effectiveness of using self-learning materials for kindergarten learners.
