A proposal for incorporating vegetation elements into BIM libraries

The current trend in the construction industry is shifting towards the implementation of sustainable and green solutions, with vegetative elements playing a significant role. Despite advancements in both construction and digitalization, BIM modeling software does not provide sufficiently developed tools for their integration, which limits their application in sustainable design. This paper focuses on the systematic prerequisites for creating and processing graphical information of vegetative elements in BIM libraries, addressing the shortcomings of the current state of libraries not only in terms of non-graphical data essential for sustainability but also in fundamental 3D graphical data. The result is a proposed methodology for digitizing information on exterior vegetative elements, such as green roofs and facades, into the BIM environment.
