Results of the prospective post-marketing follow-up study "ChondroEffect". Evaluation of the efficacy and tolerability of injectable chon- droprotectors in the treatment of joint disorders

Aim: to evaluate the clinical efficacy and tolerability of Elbona®, Eltuflop®BIO, and Sustalong® in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of various localizations following intra-articular injection therapy. Materials and Methods: a total of 495 patients from 14 cities across various regions of the Russian Federation were analyzed; they were under the care of 55 specialists from different disciplines (neurologists, rheumatologists, surgeons, trauma and orthopedic surgeons, general practitioners). Of these, 182 patients had knee OA (gonarthrosis), 159 patients had hip OA (coxarthrosis) stages I–III, 154 presented with OA of the small joints of the hand, and 198 (40%) had combined OA involving multiple joints, including cases presenting with dorsalgia. The mean age of the study population was 57.6±10.1 years (median 59.0 52.0; 66.0), including 205 men (41.4%) and 290 women (58.6%). Patients in group 1 received Elbona® (n=167), group 2 received Sustalong® (n=175), and group 3 received Eltuflop®BIO (n=153). There were no significant differences among the three groups regarding the distribution of affected joints. Results: administration of Elbona®, Eltuflop®BIO, and Sustalong® to patients with OA of various localizations in three clinically and demographically comparable groups demonstrated high efficacy. All three agents led to a significant reduction in pain intensity, as evidenced by a statistically significant decrease in Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores compared with baseline, as well as a statistically significant reduction in the need for concomitant nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). No significant differences in efficacy were observed between the three treatment groups. All agents were well tolerated, and no adverse drug reactions were reported. Conclusion: the use of Elbona®, Eltuflop®BIO, and Sustalong® demonstrated efficacy and safety in patients with OA of various localizations. Keywords: osteoarthritis, gonarthrosis, coxarthrosis, dorsalgia, efficiency. For citation: Kamchatnov P.R., Chugunov A.V., Osmayeva Z.Kh., Kazakov A.Yu., Gorbunov N.A.
