Free-Flight Testing of Ogive Flare Geometry in Hypersonic Wind Tunnel
This paper describes the free-flight hypersonic wind tunnel testing process as applied to an ogive geometry with a flared base. This geometry was observed to be self-stabilizing at low to moderate angles of attack. This paper will first cover the design of a netting mechanism to allow for the reuse of the test models, and secondly will cover the ogive flare testing procedures and results.
