Improved wind and sand resistance performance of multi-modular curved sand barriers under different modules
Abstract This study uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and wind tunnel experiments to evaluate various sand barrier modules in controlling wind and sand. Utilizing Fluent software, it explores the impact of module geometry, wind speed, and sand distribution on barrier performance. The study analyzes cylindrical, 45-degree inclined, and thin strip modules using the k-ε turbulence model. Results indicate that module effectiveness varies with wind speed, confirming the importance of optimal module configuration. Wind tunnel tests validated the numerical models and optimized module layouts, demonstrating improved wind and sand control in different conditions. This highlights the potential of computer technology in advancing sand barrier design and efficacy.
