A multi-scale optimization method for multifunctional lattice structures

Abstract This paper proposes a multi-scale optimization design method for lattice structures utilized in the aerospace field of electronic equipment. By employing meso-scale typical cell structure design and homogenization equivalence, as well as macro-scale Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) topology optimization, the divided density intervals within the design domain are filled with cells of different relative densities. As a result, an optimized multi-material structural configuration is achieved. This method overcomes the shortcomings of traditional ones, which cannot adapt to the short research cycle and high comprehensive performance requirements for aerospace platform equipment. It conducts a low-computational-cost process through introducing multi-functional cell structures and can be directly applied to multi-functional and lightweight designs of engineering structures.
