Boosting CO2 hydrogenation to methanol via enhancement of the Cu-ZnO interface on Pt1Cu single atom alloy

Abstract The regulated fabrication, selective exposure, and activation of additional active sites while concurrently limiting noble metal use is critical for accelerating methanol synthesis from CO 2 hydrogenation over Cu-base complex catalysts. Employing layered double oxides (LDO) as the support with intrinsically structured ZnAl, herein, an efficient Pt 1 Cu single atom alloy catalyst bearing extrinsically deposited ultrafine Cu nanoparticles derived from metal-organic framework (MOF) is presented, manifesting a strong Cu-ZnO interface when compared to identically synthesized counterparts with weak and medium strength interface effects. AC-HAADF-STEM and XPS characterization show that Pt exists in the form of isolated atoms and Cu interacts strongly with ZnO in Pt 1 Cu-H. At 280 ° C, the catalyst has a CO 2 conversion rate of 9.60%, a methanol selectivity of 58.70%, and good stability. The strong Cu-ZnO interface helps to improve the activity of monatomic alloy.
