SÍNDROME DA CAUDA EQUINA EM CÃO IDOSO - RELATO DE CASO
Cauda equina syndrome is a neurological disorder in which there is compression of the nerve roots called the cauda equina, and it can be acquired or congenital. Clinical signs vary according to the degree of the lesion, the most common being lameness of the pelvic limbs and muscle weakness. Diagnosis is made by observing the clinical signs and carrying out imaging tests such as X-rays and CT scans. Treatment depends on the degree of the lesion, and can be medicated or surgical. The aim of this paper is to report the case of an elderly Border Collie who was seen with clinical signs compatible with SCE. The animal underwent several imaging tests to confirm the site of the lesion and the treatment indicated for the case was medication with the use of anti-inflammatory drugs, analgesics and supplements, which had a good response in improving the patient.
