Integrasi Pemikiran Al-Khawarizmi dalam Pengembangan Kurikulum Matematika Modern: Sebuah Kajian Historis dan Aplikatif

This study examines Al-Khawarizmi's contribution to the development of modern mathematics curricula, focusing on algebra, algorithms, and the Hindu-Arabic numeral system. As a 9th-century Muslim mathematician, Al-Khawarizmi introduced revolutionary concepts such as the number zero and systematic methods for solving mathematical equations, which were documented in his monumental work ‘Al-Kitab al-Mukhtasar fi Hisab al-Jabr wa’l-Muqabala’. This study uses a historical approach to explore how these contributions have been applied in modern mathematics education, including in the Indonesian education curriculum. The analysis results indicate that the development of modern technological innovations is based on the concepts of algebra and algorithms discovered by Al-Khawarizmi.The analysis shows that the concepts of algebra and algorithms introduced by Al-Khawarizmi not only form the foundation of modern mathematics but also drive innovation in the field of technology. The numerical system he introduced replaced the complex Roman system, providing efficiency in calculation, and became the basis for the development of digital technology. This article emphasizes the importance of Al-Khawarizmi's legacy in mathematics education and its relevance in the modern era.
