Factors Influencing Malaysian Vocational Certificate (SVM) Students in Undergoing Industrial Training to Support The Code of Practice for TVET Program (COPTPA)
Issues and challenges, TVET institutions, high-quality graduates, industry marketIndustrial training is an opportunity for Malaysian Vocational Certificate (SVM) students to gain experience and exposure, enabling them to explore the realities of the working world. It is one of the newly developed curriculum programs designed to support the Code of Practice for TVET Program Accreditation (COPTPA).The issues identified based on the researcher's reading regarding the factors influencing students during industrial training include interest, income, peer and family influence, industry support, and the students' own skill levels. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors affecting SVM students in undergoing industrial training to effectively, relevantly, and strategically support COPTPA.The study's findings are based on a systematic literature review (SLR) of 20 articles retrieved via Google Scholar. The review incorporates journal articles, procedures, and theses published and uploaded to Google Scholar over the past eight years (2017-2024) as reference materials. The findings suggest that industrial training serves as a platform for fostering collaboration with industry while implementing and managing students' career processes.Industrial training is influenced by certain factors such as interest, income, peer and family influence, industry support, and the value of students' skills. In conclusion, industrial training has the potential to positively impact TVET students by producing skilled workers for the industrial sector. This supports COPTPA and contributes to the nation's ability to navigate the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution.
