Community-Centric Mobile Solutions for Local Commerce Resilience
This paper presents Hawkers, a community-focused mobile platform that aims to empower local street vendors and support hyperlocal commerce ecosystems. As opposed to e-commerce models with centralization, Hawkers allows direct interaction between vendors and consumers through geolocation-based discovery, secure OTP-enabled payments, and real-time product listings. Built using React Native, Firebase, and Google Maps API, the platform prioritizes digital inclusion, vendor exposure, and sustainability. The paper describes the system architecture of the platform, assesses usability via internal testing, and compares Hawkers with mainstream commerce platforms. Future development suggests blockchain incorporation, AI-based analysis, and multilingualization to increase scalability and community Impact.
