Logarithmic & Current-Integrating Sensor Interpreted by a Multi-Level Flash ADC
In this paper, we propose a data acquisition system that integrates a logarithmic current-integrating sensor and a multi-level Flash ADC, achieving significant improvements in dynamic range and resolution compared to existing approaches. The system demonstrates a 99-fold increase in dynamic range over non-logarithmic methods, resulting in an overall range of 110 dB. Simulations show voltage measurement errors of less than 1%, indicating strong potential for viability. While the current hardware implementation requires refinements to address non-ideal transistor behavior, the integration of optocouplers and sample-hold circuits shows promise in reducing inaccuracies.
