Smart Driven Gamified Learning Experience for Promoting Student Engagement in Green Computing
The Digital Transformation Era has necessitated pedagogical innovations that enhance student engagement and foster deeper learning. This study investigates the integration of gamification and the flipped classroom model through ClimaQuest, an AIdriven gamified learning platform, to enhance student engagement and comprehension in a pilot Green Computing course within the Computer Information Systems (CIS) department. The course curriculum encompasses critical topics, including climate change, environmental sustainability, and green computing practices. By leveraging ClimaQuest’s interactive challenges, real-time feedback mechanisms, and student-centered learning experiences, this approach aims to cultivate independent learning, collaborative problem-solving, and heightened environmental consciousness. The findings indicate that gamification, coupled with a flipped learning approach, can optimize educational outcomes, strengthen sustainability literacy, and promote active participation in green computing initiatives. These insights contribute to the growing body of research advocating for technology-enhanced learning strategies in environmental and computing education.
