Wearable Sensors for Early Detection and Management of Chronic Health Conditions in Aging Populations

RAP is also known as the failure to return to normal function over time readily, and it reflects an immense challenge in public health management as the global population ages rapidly; this demographic shift corresponds with a higher burden of both short- and long-stay chronic diseases. The prompt identification and treatment of such conditions are essential to enhance the quality of life while minimizing healthcare expenses. Background Wearable sensors have the potential to support early detection and management of chronic health conditions among regional and senior populations. They can be effortlessly attached to the body and can track heart rate, blood pressure, step count etc. all day long. They can also monitor behaviors such as sleep, medication adherence and falls. Such constant monitoring gives access to a wealth of realtime data, enabling healthcare professionals to be alerted about potential health concerns before they become critical. Wearable sensors can also be used for remote monitoring so that healthcare providers can monitor their patient's health remotely instead of having to visit the medical clinic. The older age group will obviously benefit from this if they have mobility issues or live in a far-off area. AI algorithms can analyze the data collected by these sensors to detect patterns and trends, giving insights into how much a chronic disease is advanced or determining whether a person with diabetes needs insulin. The role of wearable sensors in the early detection and management of chronic health conditions among aging populations: A review of current state-of-the-art technologies, open issues, and future directions.
