Design of Hexagonal Embedded Cavity Antennas Based on Characteristic Modes
In this conference, based on the far-to-near field transform algorithm and the characteristic mode theory, an inverse design of an embedded cavity antenna installed within a hexagonal cavity is carried out. The antenna is with a matching assemblage that includes short-circuited columns and a conical sleeve. The antenna operates within the frequency range of 2.312.65 GHz and realizes omnidirectional radiation. Compared with the circular and rectangular antennas designed by conventional approach, the gain is increased by 1 dB and 2.5 dB respectively, and the bandwidth is broadened by <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">${8. 8 \%}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">${1 0 \%}$</tex> respectively.
