Experimental and numerical study on seismic performance of translational large-span retractable roof structure
A 1:20 scale model of translational large-span retractable roof structure was designed. The natural frequencies of the structure in different opening and closing states were obtained by the white noise. The dynamic characteristics of the structure before and after the test were compared. At the same time, the effects of different seismic waves, different peak ground accelerations (PGA) and different opening and closing states on the seismic responses of the structure were studied through the shaking table test. Finally, the test results were verified by establishing the multi-scale finite element model, and the dynamic performance of the driving system was studied, revealing the failure mode of the structure. The results show that with the closure of the retractable roof structure, the natural frequency of the structure decreases. The natural frequencies of the structure are the same before and after the test. The acceleration amplification factors of the structure are between 0.8 and 6.0 under various test conditions. There is no horizontal torsion phenomenon in the structure, and the maximum displacements of the structure in various opening and closing states have never exceeded 1 mm. The type of seismic wave will not only affect the peak strain of the structure, but also determine whether the peak strain of all measuring points will appear simultaneously. The experimental results are in good agreement with the numerical simulation results. The wheel-rail system is the weak link of the retractable roof structure. When the PGA reaches 1.4 g, the side wall of the wheel breaks, and the retractable roof structure loses its retractable function. • The design of scale model of translational large-span retractable roof structure. • The influence of different opening and closing states on the natural frequency of the structure. • The comparison and analysis of seismic performance of the structure under different opening and closing states. • The establishment of multi-scale finite element model of movable roof-wheel rail-fixed roof. • The analysis of dynamic performance of the driving system.
