Biogas production: Effect of stirring speed and stirring/break periods on Anaerobic co-digestion of sugarcane bagasse and cow manure

This paper mainly introduces the potential of methane yield from anaerobic digestion of sugarcane bagasse and cow manure in Egypt. This paper includes two parts. At the first stage, the optimum result obtained in the first experiment was used, and rotating stirrers with different stirring speeds were used to determine the optimal agitation that gives the highest yield of biogas. It was found that the use of cow manure with bagasse at a ratio of 30:70, respectively, and their stirring at a speed of 120 rpm led to an improvement in the biogas productivity, compared to using the previous mixing ratios without stirring. The second stage: Three periods (flipping/stopping) were tested in order to reach the best agitation period that enables the highest production of methane gas, and the results concluded that the best stirring period for the mixture (70:30) of bagasse sugarcane with cow manure is at a stirring speed of 120 rpm for 10 minutes/hour. Statistical analysis of all measurements was carried out using ANOVA analysis. The study aimed to achieve the possibility of improving biogas production by using sugar cane waste (bagasse) and animal waste (cow manure), using the best mixing ratio, and studying the effect of the rotational speed of the prank on gas production. Additionally, the study examined how different stirring periods affect the rate of gas production.
