Preoperational environmental gamma radiation monitoring around upcoming Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana Nuclear Power Plant, Haryana
Preoperational gamma radiation monitoring forms a crucial activity in assessing the baseline radiological environment before commissioning any nuclear power plant (NPP). Such data are essential for quantifying the environmental impact of plant operations and ensuring regulatory compliance. This study focuses on preoperational gamma radiation monitoring around the upcoming Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) NPP in Haryana. Thermoluminescent dosimeters were deployed to measure environmental gamma radiation levels over 2 years at 11 locations around the plant site on the quarterly basis. From the 2-year monitoring data, the average annual air dose levels across the 11 locations are 0.82 ± 0.16 mGy/a and for GHAVP site 0.92 ± 0.16 mGy/a.
