Real Time Predictive IoT System for Assessing and Monitoring Food Freshness

Ensuring food safety and reducing waste caused by spoilage is a growing concern in both domestic and commercial settings. This study aims to arise au-tomated device to find meal or eatables spoilage in live -time using IoT-based sensors. The proposed system uses a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller integrated with an MQ4 gas sensor, a DHT11 tem-perature and humidity sensor, and a Wi-Fi com-munication module. The sensors monitor envi-ronmental conditions and detect the presence of spoilage-related gases. The processed data is dis-played on an LCD and simultaneously transmitted to the user’s mobile device via the Wi-Fi module. The system successfully detected changes in gas concentration, temperature, and humidity asso-ciated with food spoilage. Alerts were generated in real time, and visual notifications were displayed both on the LCD and on a connected mobile appli-cation. This IoT-enabled solution provides an ef-fective, low-cost method for continuous food qual-ity monitoring. By automating spoilage detection and alert mechanisms, the system helps users mi-nimize food waste and maintain better food safety standards.
