Comparison Analysis of Pile-Supported Lumped Mass and Actual Buildings Under Dynamic Loadings
This study investigated the different types of superstructures with soil and pile foundations through 1g shaking table model tests. The emphasis was on analyzing the dynamic interaction of pile foundations with different superstructures in dry sands. The sweep tests were performed to evaluate the dynamic behavior of soil-pile-structures systems. Based on test results, it was showed that lumped mass systems tend to overestimate the resonant frequencies compared to building systems depending on the soil conditions. The pile bending moment of lumped mass systems recorded a smaller than building systems with increasing the magnitude of the input acceleration since the different resonant frequencies of system.
