A Case Study on Effectiveness of a Feeder-Connected Battery Storage and Demand Side Management Using Fuzzy Logic
A smart grid (SG) represents the evolution of traditional electrical grids by integrating digital communication, automation, and advanced technologies to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. A considerable renewable integration is there in a smart grid environment, which is difficult to handle the generation due to varying weather conditions and lack of inertia. This issue can be solved using demand-side management (DSM). Demand-side management (DSM) plays a crucial role in balancing supply and demand, particularly during peak periods, by optimizing energy consumption and reducing costs. Techniques like load shifting and fuzzy logic algorithms enhance grid performance by managing energy flows and maintaining consumer comfort. This study presents a simulation of a power system, incorporating solar PV, battery storage, and air conditioning (AC) loads. A fuzzy logic-based algorithm is employed to manage battery charging and DSM, demonstrating significant energy savings and improved load management. The case study highlights the effectiveness of this approach in maintaining power system stability and efficiency.
