Network Elasticity Measurement

With rapid growth and widespread use of internet social groups and popularity applications of social networks, it become crucial to determining the features of robust metrics and creating robust networks that are optimized. In this paper, we define a new measurement for robustness in complex networks called elasticity. This metric measures the withstand numerous attacks while maintaining a high throughput. In another word, it measures the stability of the network under compressibility of its structure. The robust network must keep constant relationship between its entropy and diameter under increasing removal of nodes and consequently links. Accordingly, the network is robust if its elasticity is constant or increased under compressibility of its structure. To prove our assumption, we use random network with removal of random nodes attack and illustrate the relation between its entropy and the diameter to calculate its elasticity.
