A Preliminary Study on Attention Regulation in Online Learning through Color-Based Intervention
Distraction and mind-wandering are common challenges in online learning environments, significantly undermining learning effectiveness. This study proposes an attention regulation strategy based on color-driven visual intervention, aiming to guide learners’ visual focus back to learning tasks by adjusting the dominant color tone and contrast of the interface. Using eye-tracking technology, the study records key indicators such as fixation duration and pupil dilation under different color conditions, complemented by questionnaire-based feedback to assess intervention effects. Results indicate that red and yellow are more effective in activating visual attention, while blue is better suited for sustaining long-term attentiveness. Statistical analyses, including one-way ANOVA and t-tests, confirm the significance of color intervention in directing attention. This research provides empirical evidence to inform the design of user interfaces and attention intervention mechanisms for future online learning platforms.
