Coordinating and Reusing RESTful Web APIs: SLA-Driven Response Standardization Using JSON API and JAQL

Organizations that transition to microservices architectures see their API count rise quickly because they must continuously create and modify APIs through decomposition and evolution and while trying to reuse the same API to provide different response. The explosion of RESTful Web APIs demands effective coordination measures and standard practices especially for Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and response management. The rapid increase in API development creates difficulties in efficiently managing API responses particularly in distributed systems where service discovery and interoperability represent major obstacles. API integration and reuse become more challenging because there is no standardization for API responses while SLAs differ between services and different consumers. This paper examines API response discovery difficulties alongside selection and reuse processes while stressing the importance of SLA-based response standardization. The research presented here explores how standardizing API responses through Service Level Agreements can improve both API coordination and governance. Our proposal includes a middleware-based coordinator system that employs JSON Query and JSON API to enhance government interoperability or different institutions or organizations who do produce many API. The approach establishes uniform API responses across different services to enable consistent data usage while adhering to predetermined SLAs. These results advance discussions about API governance and performance optimization while providing a scalable solution for both public-sector interoperability and wider use cases. With the help of a middleware-based coordinator system that uses JSON Query and JSON API to standardize API responses for discovering the full response for each API, defining the type of response and filtering the response based on SLA. Our research provides scalable solutions which contribute to discussions on how to manage API lifecycles and achieve standardization and optimization for organizations that implement API-driven structures.
