Smart Retail Billing System using YOLOv10 Object Detection and Raspberry Pi

This paper presents a vision-based automated billing system designed for small and medium-sized retail stores. The proposed system utilizes YOLOv10 object detection integrated with an HX711 weight sensor and Raspberry Pi 4 to automate product identification and pricing, eliminating manual barcode scanning. A Streamlit-based UI provides real-time product visualization, and invoices generated are sent via the Twilio-WhatsApp API for paperless billing. Unlike conventional barcode-based systems, our approach enables real-time item recognition and weight validation, reducing checkout time and labor while improving accuracy. The system operates entirely at the edge, ensuring efficient performance without cloud dependency. Experimental results demonstrate its feasibility as a cost-effective and scalable solution for automated retail billing.
