Design of Integrated Satellite-Terrestrial Position Monitoring Terminal for General Aviation Aircraft
This paper presents the design of an integrated satellite-terrestrial terminal for position monitoring of general aviation aircraft. The terminal realizes uninterrupted position reporting between urban and desert through dual-chain auto-switch of 4G LTE and Beidou short message communication. The auto-switch mechanism is executed by implementing real-time monitoring of terrestrial mobile network signal strength and TCP server connection status. Test results demonstrate that the position is updated every 2 seconds in terrestrial mobile communication base station coverage areas and seamlessly switches to Beidou RSMC reporting by 60-second interval in blind area covered by base station. Additionally, the interference tests of RSMC transmitting and GNSS receiver are conducted with different distance. Results indicate that GNSS CNR attenuates by 13dB at 10cm distance, 10dB at 1m distance, and 5dB at 2m distance.
