BER Performance Analysis of NOMA-based 5G Network over Different Fading Channels

The key focuses of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) are improvements in spectral efficiency, connectivity, and user fairness when using it in 5G networks. It lets several users use the same frequency channels at once, which represents a major advanceA. The Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of Code-Domain NOMA (CD-NOMA) and Power-Domain NOMA (PD-NOMA) is compared over different fading channels. However, PD-NOMA employs power-domain multiplexing and successive interference cancellation (SIC). The simulation results prove that CD-NOMA achieves a better BER than PD-NOMA in MATLAB simulation, especially in the AWGN and Rayleigh channels, where SIC leads to error propagation. The line-of-sight component improves the performance of both methods in the Rician fading scenario, however, CD-NOMA serves to have better overall performance. These results are pivotal for fine-tuning NOMA in the 5G system because they are focused on both fairness and efficiency.
