PyMex: Application to connect microbusinesses and clients
This report introduces PyMex, a mobile application designed to promote the visibility and competitiveness of microbusinesses in Mexico by uploading their products or services and connecting with local customers near them. The micro, small and medium-size enterprises (MSMEs), despite accounting for 52% of Mexico’s total income, struggle to compete with large retail chains due to their lack of marketing resources and limited digital presence to reach more clients. To address this, PyMex was created after a meticulous analysis that included market validation and user feedback collection obtained through surveys. The application integrates several important features, such as geolocation, customer reviews, advertising and a loyalty program to incite microbusiness-client connections and promote local commerce. Survey results from microbusinesses and owners in Puebla, Mexico, highlighted the need for a platform that promotes microbusiness visibility and with this, a subscription-based model was developed. Sustainable Development Goal 8 aligns with PyMex to achieve sustainable economic growth.
