Energy-Saving Mechanism for Energy and Signal Integrated Radio-Over-Fiber Wireless Sensor Networks in Transmission Channels
To address the two major issues of low-power wireless sensor network communication coverage and energy harvesting difficulties in the transmission channel scenario, a radio-over-fiber (RoF)-based optical-carried information energy transmission technology solution is designed. By using RoF technology, wireless RF signals are transmitted over optical fibers with low loss and long distance, combined with microwatt-level wireless sensor network technology, to achieve precise extended coverage for narrow transmission channels. Meanwhile, Power-over-Fiber (PWoF) technology is employed to efficiently and reliably supply energy to the extended coverage nodes, enabling the deployment of a wireless sensor network without external power sources. A Power-and-Radio-over-Fiber Wireless Sensors Network (WSN-PRoF) architecture is proposed for the transmission channel scenario. Based on this architecture, an effective energy and signal resource scheduling mechanism is introduced to avoid conflicts. Additionally, a Energy-saving mechanism is designed to achieve a green, low-power WSN-PRoF network.
