DETERMINANTS DE LA RENTABILITE ECONOMIQUE ET FINANCIERE DE LA PRODUCTION DE CAROTTE A FALLA DE SONINKOURA, CERCLE DE SEGOU
This study focuses on analyzing the factors influencing the profitability of carrot production in Falla de Soninkoura (Ségou district, Mali). Based on a survey conducted among 43 producers, the analysis covered socio-economic characteristics, farming methods, production costs, and profit margins. The results show that the producers are predominantly male (95.3%) and married (83.7%), with a low level of formal education. The average profit margin is estimated at 32,444 FCFA, with an economic ratio of 0.21. The regression model is globally significant (p = 0.046), indicating that certain explanatory variables significantly influence profitability, particularly input costs, type of sowing, labor, equipment, access to quality inputs, and marketing infrastructure. The dominant farming practices are broadcasting and ridged-bed cultivation. These findings highlight the need to strengthen technical capacity and modernize practices to improve the sector's performance.
