Enhancement and dissipation of electromagnetic energy in a four-level tripod atomic system
Abstract This manuscript demonstrates the control and modification of the amplification and tangent loss in a four-level tripod-type atomic system via the probe and controlled field detunings, phase and controlled field Rabi frequencies. Amplification becomes minimum and maximum at resonance and off-resonance points of the control field E 1 , respectively, while it shows a contrast behavior at resonance and off-resonance points of the control field E 2 . We notice that at certain values of the Rabi frequencies, amplification is significant, however, by varying the Rabi frequencies it decreases and shifts to absorption. Furthermore, the tangent loss varies between zero and negative maximum via the variation of controlling parameters. Our findings may have potential applications in quantum memory elements, photonic circuits, nanophotonic amplifiers, quantum communication, super conducting circuits and nonlinear optical switches.
