Management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Operations in Forest Environments
This paper introduces a novel web application designed to streamline the management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operations in forest environments. The application addresses existing challenges in UAV management, such as licensing restrictions, proprietary communication protocols, and the need for user-friendly interfaces. Using open-source technologies integrated with a fleet management system (FMS), the proposed solution enables efficient planning, execution, and monitoring of UAV missions. Key features include mission planning, real-time task monitoring, and advanced scanning and mapping capabilities, all accessible through an intuitive interface. The integration with the Robot Operating System (ROS) ensures seamless communication and coordination among UAVs, enhancing operational efficiency and adaptability in forestry applications. This research contributes to UAV technology by providing an open-source solution tailored to the unique demands of forest environments.
