3D Modeling of Coal Bunkers Based on LiDAR
Severe wall buildup inside coal bunkers significantly affects their coal storage capacity, and measuring the shape of the wall buildup is a prerequisite for bunker cleaning. To address the issues of high risk and great difficulty in traditional manual measurement, an explosion - proof LiDAR 3D modeling system was designed. To tackle the problems of large - scale point cloud data and long computation time, curvature - based downsampling was used to reduce the point cloud density while preserving the features of the wall buildup. Regarding the random placement of the LiDAR, a coordinate positioning method for the wall buildup inside the bunker based on the least - squares method was proposed, which solved the problem of poor positioning accuracy caused by data collection from a non - central LiDAR position. The 3D modeling system for the coal bunker was constructed using the Poisson reconstruction algorithm. Experimental results verified the feasibility of the proposed method: the filtering and downsampling algorithms retained the original features of the coal bunker, and the combination of the bunker's central coordinate system and the 3D reconstruction model improved the efficiency of wall buildup identification and positioning.
