A Multi-mode Adaptive Switching Vibration Control Strategy For Marine Turbines
Both safety and performance might suffer if vibration-related problems of a marine turbine are overlooked. Aiming at actively controlling vibrations especially on sailing, a multi-mode adaptive switching vibration control (MASVC) strategy via an electromagnetic actuator (EMA) integrated into a marine turbine rotor system is presented. The acting control algorithm automatically switches among the fast unbalance compensation algorithm, the pole assignment algorithm, and the optimal damping control algorithm, based on the rotor speed and vibration responses. A finite element model of a marine turbine rotor system with an electromagnetic actuator was established; then, the theory and simulation design of the three control algorithms were described respectively; finally, a series of rotor vibration suppression tests based on the multi-mode switching algorithm were carried out in a rotational speed range containing the first-order resonance point and considerable vibration suppression effects were obtained.
