Analytical and Experimental Study of Giant Magnetostrictive Material on Output Performance for Giant Magnetostrictive Actuator

In this study, we aim to develop a compact and lightweight interior acoustic control system for the ultra-compact electric vehicle. The proposed system uses a giant magnetostrictive actuator that is smaller and lighter than typical car speakers. In addition, the control sound was output using wall surface vibration by a giant magnetostrictive actuator. Regarding this system, developing a giant magnetostrictive actuator that can output and control sound waves with high volume and quality is essential. A giant magnetostrictive actuator for the proposed interior acoustic control system was developed in this study. We analyzed the characteristics of the magnetostriction force generated when giant magnetostrictive materials are deformed by a magnetic field using electromagnetic field analysis. In this analytical study, we investigated the magnetostriction force over different frequency ranges of piezoelectrically controlled amplifiers using the finite element method of the giant magnetostrictive actuator. In addition, we fabricated a giant magnetostrictive actuator based on the results of analytical studies in experiments using a manufactured giant magnetostrictive, we measured the amplitude of vibrations generated by the giant magnetostrictive actuator and examined its output performance.
