ANÁLISE DO CONHECIMENTO DOS PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE SOBRE O QUE É ÚLCERA DE PRESSÃO, EM UMA CASA DE REPOUSO

Pressure ulcers (PU) are lesions of ischemic origin that mainly affect bedridden individuals and are prevalent in long-term care facilities for the elderly (LTCF). This study aimed toanalyze the knowledge and practices adopted by health professionals regarding the prevention and management of PU in a nursing home located in the city of Teófilo Otoni/MG. This is a quantitative, descriptive study. Data collection was conducted using a structured questionnaire. The results showed that, although the institution does not formally use assessment scales such as the Braden Scale, professionals demonstrate effective preventive behaviors, such as changing position every two hours, moisturizing the skin and changing dressings regularly. No active cases of PU were identified at the time of the study, which indicates the effectiveness of the practices adopted.
