The Discovery and Development of a Field Extension 45 Years After First Oil

Abstract In 2022, the JV's operator drilled an appraisal-producer well in the southern extension of the O field following an extensive remapping of the field. This paper describes the process by which the re-interpretation of the structural model and re-evaluation of stratigraphic correlations supported a late-life asset production allocation and performance review which led to the planning of three development wells and the booking of an incremental 2P reserves of ca. 13MMstb. A cross disciplinary approach based on the interpretation of recently reprocessed seismic data, integrated with a revised stratigraphic correlation, and supported by well and reservoir production performance led to a revised fault pattern and resulted in the generation of new reservoir maps and models. The revised main bounding fault and secondary fault network redistributed the field segments and STOIIP, highlighting the likely presence of a roll-over structure in the hanging wall of the field main bounding fault. Almost 40 years of production history was reviewed and re-allocated before predictive reservoir models could be re-built and history-matched.
