Extraction and Application of Latex of Naseberry on Cotton Fabrics

This study explores the extraction of latex from Naseberry (Manilkara zapota) and its application as a functional finishing agent on 100% cotton fabric of 40s count.Naseberry latex was harvested from mature trees grown on farmland, offering potential for additional income streams for local farmers. After proper filtration and dilution, the latex was applied to desized and bleached cotton using the dipping method.Treated fabrics were evaluated for antimicrobial properties, mosquito repellency, moisture management, and softness. Results showed notable improvements in antimicrobial resistance and mosquito repellency. The treated fabric exhibited better moisture absorption and softness compared to untreated controls, making it suitable for sportswear and home textiles. This eco-friendly approach supports sustainable farming and textile processing practices.
