Seleção de medicamentos no Sistema Único de Saúde por regiões de saúde do Brasil

Objective: To characterize the drug selection process in Brazilian health regions and analyze the compatibility between the lists offered by the corresponding municipalities. Methodology: Cross-sectional study. Structured interviews were conducted with professionals responsible for pharmaceutical services in 417 municipalities and the Federal District in 42 health regions of Brazil between 2013 and 2015. Results: It was found that 54.9% of the municipalities reported having formally established municipal drug lists, 11.5% reported having a Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and 51.8% use the demand for municipal health services as the main criterion for composing the drug list. Conclusion: There are weaknesses in the drug selection process in the health regions analyzed, with low compatibility of the drug lists, indicating the need to re-discuss the drug supply process from the perspective of regionalization, comprehensive care and assistance, which meet the demands and needs of the population served.
