Neumatosis Intestinal Poliquística Idiopática: Presentación Atípica de Abdomen Agudo en un Paciente Joven: Reporte de Caso y Revisión de la Literatura

Polycystic Intestinal Pneumatosis is an uncommon condition characterized by the presence of gas-filled cysts within the intestinal wall. We present the case of a 26-year-old male patient with abdominal pain and pneumoperitoneum, who underwent exploratory laparotomy, revealing extensive pneumatosis in the small intestine without evidence of perforation. Histopathological and microbiological studies ruled out secondary causes, leading to a diagnosis of idiopathic pneumatosis. The patient had a favorable outcome with surgical management and outpatient follow-up. This case highlights the importance of considering this entity in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen.
