Assessing the Risk of Venous Thromboembolism in Patients with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia: A National Inpatient Sample Study

Background: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is an underrecognized entity which increases the risk of mucosal as well as visceral bleeding. The thromboembolic risk of this condition is unknown. Methods: We used the national inpatient sample database from 2016 to 2020 and performed a retrospective cohort study using multivariate logistic regression. Results: In this retrospective cohort study of the national inpatient sample database from 2016 to 2020 using multivariate logistic regression, we found that hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia did not significantly increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
