Experimental study on suspension and rotation of bearingless motor for artificial heart pumps

Artificial heart pump is an important medical device for treating heart failure. In order to study the speed performance and suspension performance of artificial heart pumps, this paper conducted experimental research on the suspension and rotation of bearingless motors for artificial heart pumps. Firstly, the design of the artificial heart pump motor control system and hardware components has been completed. Secondly, an experimental platform was established and rotor rotation experiments, rotor suspension experiments, and suspension experiments at different speeds were conducted successively. The experimental results show that the dynamic performance of the speed curve is good, and the steady-state accuracy can be controlled within ± 2.1 r/min. The radial offset of the rotor during idling can be controlled within a fluctuation range of ± 4 um, and the suspension performance is good. The steady-state radial displacement of the rotor increases with the increase of rotational speed, and the maximum radial displacement of the rotor is observed under variable rotational speed conditions. The displacement of all experimental rotors during suspension is much smaller than the length of the motor air gap, which creates a stable environment for the rotation and pumping of blood in the artificial heart pump. The above work provides a reference for the development of artificial heart pump control systems.
