Preparation of nanoparticles of heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn5 by pulsed laser ablation in liquid

Abstract Nanoparticles of Ce-based intermetallic heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn 5 with roughly 500 nm diameter were fabricated via pulsed laser ablation in pure water using Nd:YAG laser. Despite the surface oxidization and chemical inhomogeneity of the grown products, microstructural analysis confirms the presence of stoichiometric CeCoIn 5 nanoparticles, demonstrating that they are ready to be tested as a possible candidate for thermally stable and corrosion-resistant materials.
