Continuous Current Mode Class-F Power Amplifier: A Solution for Bandwidth Extension in Low Breakdown Voltage Applications

This paper presents a comprehensive theoretical analysis and experimental validation of a Continuous Current Mode (CCM) Class-F power amplifier, designed to address the limitations of conventional continuous Class-F mode power amplifiers in low breakdown voltage technologies. The approach preserves continuous current operation while approximately maintaining the high-efficiency characteristics of Class-F operation. Through theoretical analysis and practical validation, we demonstrate that this technique effectively broadens the viable design space, enabling extended bandwidth operation with relatively constant efficiency. Experimental results validate the theoretical framework, indicating improvements in operational bandwidth while sustaining efficiency levels characteristic of Class-F architectures without inducing soft breakdown or gate current anomalies.
