An Application of NB-IoT on Gas Monitoring

This article presents a new application gas monitoring based on Narrow Bandwidth Internet of Thing (NB-IoT), namely, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The main component consists of controller model SIEMENS IoT 2050 and an NB-IoT shield. The proposed system receives data through Electronic Volume Corrector (EVC) installed at the gas metering station, then sends gas consumption values through the NB-IoT network. The data is obtained per minute. In addition, the data obtained is calculated as the heat energy value on server. The proposed system reduces operating costs compared to the Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system.
