Design Optimization to Reduce Torque Ripple in PM-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor for Light Electric Vehicles
Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motors (PMA-SynRMs) offer a promising solution for electric vehicles due to their high power density and reduced reliance on rare-earth materials. However, challenges such as torque ripple and efficiency limitations can hinder their performance. This research focuses on optimizing the design of PMA-SynRMs to improve their torque performance and efficiency. We aim to identify optimal motor configurations that balance performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness by employing design techniques and optimization algorithms. Compared to the initial design, an optimized candidate design demonstrates significant improvements by maintaining high efficiency at 92%, increasing mechanical torque by 2%, and reducing torque ripple by 36.47%.
