Coexistence of eMBB and URLLC Services in Vehicular Metaverse: A Matching Game Approach
In intelligent transportation systems (ITS) assisted by a metaverse, there is a wide variety of services, such as information services and accident reporting. Some of the services, such as infotainment, require more bandwidth, while others, such as accident reporting, need more reliability. We can divide these services broadly into two categories: (a) enhanced mobility broadband (eMBB) services and (b) ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) services. Although these services enable many benefits for end-users, there is a need for efficient resource scheduling. Meanwhile, the metaverse is gaining significant interest from researchers. Therefore, in this work, we propose a resource scheduling framework for metaverse-assisted intelligent transportation systems. We address a resource scheduling problem in ITS that jointly considers the reliability and latency of URLLC for ITS applications. Our framework is based on the assignment of resources to eMBB users and puncturing for URLLC users, and thus enables the coexistence of both URLLC and eMBB services. A risk-aware problem is formulated to minimize the cost of communication for different eMBB services while acknowledging the performance degradation due to puncturing. To solve the formulated NP-hard problem, we propose a matching-based solution. Finally, the results of the evaluation for the proposed scheme are presented, along with comparisons with baseline schemes.
